    St Clair heavy boat traffic

When does the heavy boat traffic seam to slow down. Was there two weeks ago and the lake was like a washing machine due to boats traveling every direction. Thanks Brian

    Welcome to the Churn

It will start to taper off after Labor Day and will be much better by mid October as long as the weather cools off

If we have higher than normal temps it can go on for a while longer

The Canadian side has way less boat traffic and a lot of fish.

Thanks for the info. It had been ten years since I was on st Clair up to now. So I’m way out of touch on the Canadian rules, but if I go to Canadian waters do I need a passport and a Canadian license or just a Canadian license.

You need a passport or enhanced drivers license

Plus a Canadian Fishing license and outdoor card

You do not need to call or visit a customs agency unless you touch land in Canada

    Flare guns are legal now

Thank you for the info on Canada. I doubt we will get over there this year but I’m glad I know the rules now.

You also need to make sure you have the correct safety gear - flares, throwable, fire extinguisher, etc.

Fishing during the week helps with boat traffic too. I take time off of work to fish St. Clair for that reason.

Is AB still dirty? It’s kind of sucked for a few weeks now.

Its still milky at best. We were out yesterday the cleanest water was along the south shore. The Hump was much cleaner than anything we saw all day. We caught bass but not the size we wanted so we left. Mid lake was cleaner too but again size matters. The population of 2-3 # SMB is a good sign.
