True. Also, what are ghost pins?

Buy a pack of five pins and keep it in your boat. You've got at least five of everything else!!!

To tell the truth I have never sheared one of these 80 pound or better shear pins, never even bent one. I've eaten the entire inner portion of the prop out and not sheared one.

Are these even shear pins, 40 years and never sheared one.. I think these are drive pins, Shear pins on older outboards were soft brass.

Totally agreed. The prop housing itself is far more fragile than the "shear pin". It'd probably be more accurate to call it a drive pin.

I used a oil filter wrench on mine when it seized then tossed it in the trash.

For anyone else that has this problem you can take the top cover off the head of the Ultrex.
When the cover is removed you will see the red and black power wires that run down to the motor. The wires have a pair of spade connectors. Reverse the wires at the connector and hold the prop nut. When you hit the switch the TM will run backwards and hopefully it will loosen the prop nut. Switch the wires back like they wer and put the cover back on.

I've purchased them directly from MK. They're pretty quick with the turnaround.

Don't forget the bolts and washers too.

Can’t you just hold onto the prop nut and have someone hit the power button on the pedal. Wouldn’t it spin the shaft and spin the nut off?
