The ironic thing is the VERY BEST smallmouth fishing was just a scenic tour for these boys along Great Lake Erie.

Was on the thruway yesterday going to Syracuse and saw a few wrapped boats heading east. I said to my wife “well they sure didn’t make the cut” and when she asked what I was talking about so I started explaining the tournament and how they changed the elite qualification format this year and that there was a local from down by us (cooperstown) who was within qualification range..

She responded with “this is the longest drive to Syracuse I’ve ever had” and it was then that I realized I was rambling for 20min

My wife would just put her ear-pods in and not tell me, LOL.

There might be better fishing but it sure isn't as beautiful as the St. Lawrence Ontario area.

Bass Opens have always been 10 anglers to final day. MLF Toyota Series is on the same level as the BASS Open Series but the top 25 fish final day. MLF BFL super tournaments the top 20% fish the 2nd day.

Have you seen a 5 bass smallmouth limit for 32+ lbs in a tournament from Erie?

Nothing compares to the 1000 Islands part of the River for CATCHING and SCENERY!

This has not always been the case. Not sure when they went to ten, but in 2010 when I fished, the top 12 fished the last day.
