2008 Merc. 150 Efi 2 stroke needs rebuild

So, bad news from my mechanic. #2 cylinder has gone down. He said it threw the piston, crushed the spark plug and cracked the block to some extent. Cylinder still has compression, but runs poorly. I live in Austin Tx.I called around and have had no success find shop to remanufacture. I called LMC marine in Houston and they won’t touch it but recommended “ Marine Rebuild Specialist” /“Outboard marine” in Seminole Fla. I called them directly and had mechanic call. They sounded professional and like they could diagnose and rebuild my engine. As of now, mechanic has called 3x and they do not seem to want to get back with us on any types of number$$$. I would really like to know what caused cylinder to go down and if it’s worth rebuilding. If anyone has any thoughts or info it would be appreciated. Tight lines, Hope everyone has great safe 4th of July

Also try Jaysmithracing.com in Houston or Chriscarsonmarine.com in Florida. Though if the block is cracked not sure if rebuilding it would be the right choice. But those guys can let you know. You can probably buy a used one cheaper than rebuilding yours.

Follow up with JOE54 for sure. He knows.

Chris Carson rebuilt my 2000 2.5 in 2019, excellent result.

Thanks for reply. Would like to talk with you more in depth. Not sure why this happened. Would like to prevent this happening again. How do we connect?
