    I throw them on a spinning pole just because I get better hook sets ... switched this way a few years ago .

    This. The best way to get a squarebill to hunt is crank it as fast as you can. I always use 7:1 for my squarebill fishing. You always want the bait on the edge of blowing out. You’ll get twice the bites.

    That was back before they had high speed reels, 4 or 5 to one was all they had back then.

    Remember one thing though...gear ratio is one thing...but what is thr IPT on said reel?

    I'm running a 6.3 (TD-Z PO), but now that summer's here I might switch it over to a 7.1, espeically for smaller SB's.
