Daiwa Aird X 7’ or 7’3” mh fast. It’s more of a mod fast. I throw mine with mono. Put braid on it and pitch plastics around too.

Don’t know the young man’s age or height, but maybe look for a Medium action rod in the 7’0” range. More manageable for a young angler, and the medium action helps with casting chatterbaits. Acts more like a mod fast action. If you can find him a MH Mod. Fast action all the better, just match the rod length to the angler’s size and ability. Spool up some 20# Sunline Super Natural mono. Smaller diameter than most mono lines, casts smoothly, with great knot strength and abrasion resistance.

    Ark Catalyzer is $59.99

Someone on the site mentioned that they use the 7'3" MH for chatterbaits in the reviews.

The Falcon Bucoo Pitchin’ Stick, makes a fantastic chatterbait rod. It is 6ft 10inch heavy fast action 5 power, rated for 1/4 to 3/4 oz. It is bit more than your $90 price ar $110 but well worth it.

Says who? A young fisherman who can use a baitcaster can use braid to leader. In fact, it's more versatile for a young fisherman.
