    Livewell Issue

I assume I need a new valve but thought I'd check here first.

Livewell will only fill to 3/4 full in Auto. It will hold that amount all day in Auto or Recirc.

Checked the valve and I'm getting full throw on the lever... guessing it's a flapper issue inside the valve.

    Thoughts?

If the valve itself is fine, order a rebuild kit or two. I like to have one sitting on the shelf. Take the valve apart and look at it, it may just have something in it...... Just remember the flapper placements when you replace.

Thank you sir. Looking at it, I may have an issue getting the valve out. It looks like the valve may be permanently attached to PVC joint before getting to the hoses to the wells.

It's unscrews out of those you gotta unscrew one side than another. Also order a whole new valve and a flapper kit so you have a spare. for price of shipping it's worth to keep an extra

Have you checked output of both pumps. If you have a weak pump…live well will not fill.

I have a 2000 Ranger R71. I have a similar issue to the OP. I was told to check the valve. This is my second Ranger and first time with this sort of problem. Where is it located? Under the seat? If I have to order a new one and/or a rebuild kit what part exactly am I looking to order. Thanks in advance.

My valve was under the back battery compartment. My valve appears to be working correctly. It looks like my issue was a bad pump.

When the Live well won't fill up all the way it's usually one of two things. One or both pumps and not working properly. The valve needs rebuilding or replacing. Once I had a pump that would spin but the impeller at the end of th shaft was stripped and wouldn't rotate. Another time the impeller was not pushed in enough and was hitting the housing and wouldn't work properly.

Turned out it was both issues. I had a bad valve and a bad pump. Working great now!
