    1999 mercury 200 hp detonation controller removal

    Serial # OG839631, motor was surging when idling at normal rpm. When it was at normal idle it was around 800 rpms. Then it would surge to 1100 to 1200 rpms. Disconnected the detonation controller and it all seems normal at idle on the muffs. Is it ok to run the motor with it disconnected and not removed. I have trip planned this next week and will not have time to get it to the dealer before the trip. Thanks for any help.
