Prop change needed after weight change

    Guys,
I have an 04 stratus 201 with blades, 12” plate and I installed a ghost and replaced my 2 31 trolling batteries with a pair of lithium pro 36 volt batteries. I run a bone stock 25 fury no plugs and it has been easy to drive and saw as high as 76 with 2 guys and could run it to 5950 or so. Since the change I’m struggling to get past 5600 with 2 guys different plate heights and trimming a ton just to get that at 72.5. Good boat guy and fellow member is recommending a 24 tempest just seeing if there are any recommendations from others. Water line on poles seem to be 2-3 inches lower than before batteries. Problem seems to be I now need more bow lift and less stern lift. Thanks for help.

Tempest would have more bow lift. The rpm loss is probably from less bow lift so I’m not sure I would go down in pitch

I have an sl4 bravo knockoff with cup and pvs holes that was a great Holeshot but topped out quick at 72 before changes. I’m gonna see if it gives me more speed now that stern lift isn’t as required. I am also going to try a 25 tempest if I find one. Thanks guys.

I'm struggling also. You'll need to get the prop worked. I had a 25Bravo 1xs and did not give the bow lift actually gave more stern lift. 25 Tempest Plus worked helped however still not the speed. Best bow lift has been from a 25 trophy. Looking for a trophy plus to see if that works better.

Haha boomer I tried to buy your tempest. I ran a 23 tempest today just to see how the characteristics were. I was able to run up and clean but not is much lift as I hoped all while trying to stay below 6k. Isn’t a trophy plus a pretty small diameter prop? I ran one on my 18’ nitro with a 150. Also I’m now unable to spin my sl4 now either past 5500.

That tempest sold quickly. Have another i had worked. Like the Croxton 24 4blade much better than the tempest and bravo1.

What did they do to the other tempest. Might be interested. Called a couple days ago about a 3 or 4 blade razor but haven’t hear anything

Adjusted rake some, added more cup. Gets a little loose one it grabs. It is a back up along with a trophy. The Razor has been the best so far.

Running into similar... loss of weight in stern due to lithiums plus added weight on bow due to multiple MFU's, etc and carrying a tackle store up front. :). SHO 225, T1 25 would run 6150 but I've had two of them crack on me in the past year (one worked by Mark ), so have been running a T2 25 which was to be my backup prop - oddly it runs a bit lower on RPM but has been the fastest of the three props at 69mph. The T1's topped out at 66-67 typically.

But being fed up with T series and wanting to be able to have a backup, I've been testing some Merc hub props, first a Solas Scopion since it is reported to have great bow lift - however even dropping two pitches as recommended to a 23p I can only run it up to about 5750 and 65mph... But it is a strong prop for sure, midrange is excellent, it will be running 60 at 5k rpm but struggles to get much faster topping out at 64 at 5750. Perhaps I should have dropped down another pitch, not sure.

Just installed a Tempest I picked up here last week - a 25P to try it out, it has vents so not sure how the SHO will react, it's my understanding once up and going vents don't matter, but they effect/can improve holeshot on 2S motors, but aren't typically required on 4S. But I don't have any vent plugs, so will try it this weekend with open vents I guess.

As mentioned above, due to lightness in the stern I have been finding the best performance lower on the JP range, typically 1 - 1.5 on the Bobs scale. So I moved my motor down one set of holes so I could open up a bit more range at the bottom also.

No plug may try a cavitation ring.

    Leon,
I did that and it didn't help. The PtP was 3.25 and I went down and up it didn't change much. RPM's I could get another 150-200 but wasn't changing attitude of the boat.
