Anybody been fishing this lake lately?
Haven't fished there before.
Is the Coleman ramp a good ramp? Safe?

I haven’t fished there in more than a month, so I’m not confident about giving a fishing report. I did catch several on a swim bait while the other two in the boat were fishing for panfish.
But as for the ramp: pay $5 and launch your boat at Tracy’s Point Fishing Lodge. Your property will be much safer there. The public Coleman ramp has been a target for thieves for a while now. Every time in the last three years that I’ve driven to the Coleman ramp, I’ve seen the locals sitting on their porch in the neighborhood right off 301 pick up the phone as they stare at me and the truck. The last time me I did that with my boat in tow, thinking I *might* risk it…somebody with a car that looked just as worn down and neglected as the neighborhood you drive through to get the ramp showed up about 10-15min later and asked if I was planning on fishing. May not have been up to no good, but after he asked me and I said I was thinking about it, he parked his car and sat in it.
I did a few more minutes of rigging, then left for Tracy’s. There were no other vehicles in the lot, and quite a bit of broken glass in the lot

Appreciate the advice.
he ask you if your going to fish while you’re towing a boat. You probably made the right decision.
Agree.
I considered he was possibly just making small talk but that wasn’t what my gut was telling me. Five bucks and a little less fishing time was worth the peace of mind, imo.

If you put in at Traces point, at 11 o'clock almost 3/4 across lake is a long reed patch. Although this is a community hole. It's wOrith fishing. There is a hole on the back side and the eel grass usually holds fish. To the right of Traceys middle of far end was some hydrilla mixed in. Haven't been there in awhile but a good area. To the left on the far end is the withlachoochi river. we caught some schoolers there. This was late winter

Re: Pan From 2 previous threads.
]I just cant figure it out for some reason. I have gone to the creek across from Tracies.
Next time, from Tracies. Take an immediate right and the first long dock holds swim-bait fish (5" +) ; all around the top and usually the shady side..
There is also a Tuesday Tx. on Lake Rosseau Where it is $5.00 or $6.00 (Big Fish) and You can put in anywhere and at any time but have to be at Peaceful Acres at 1:00 p.m. for the weigh-in. Then once a month they travel to another lake.
I remember winning the Tx at Panasoffkee and tied for Big Fish and won like $130 (I hit that first long dock as You pull out of Tracey's 6" Basstrix Ayu Had a limit in 8 casts)

Not to derail thread but since we're in the area, how is Henderson Lake? Worth a stop?
If You're good at searching there is a thread where I provided areas and maps. Saw some feeding going/coming from the Dog Park; 2 guys fishing frogs from the bridge.
East Lake is always good especially after morning rains (which we just had).
If You go to Hendo start right at the ramp and work counter-clockwise through those first pads. floating frogs; speed worms and Mesu Swim-jigs work here. keep a Sammy or similar and cast towards the buoy. There are also Spot Buoys and under these are Christmas trees dumped.
most of the coves also hold fish, 'some' more than others..
Tackle Shops would be 44 Tackle in the old K-Mart Plaza right off of 41 (near The Noodle House which has great chow..)
Bars downtown have Specials so check the 'bar menu' the prices vary.
Sushi downtown has great Fried Blue Crabs in eel sauce..
Good Luck
Thanks Lew!
Lew would know - nothing beats hours/years on the water!
