Lower unit leak from nose cone water intake 250

    2b529754

At the Potomac for Northeast Divisional and found leaking oil from nose when raising trim up. Can anyone help? Anyone know anyone around Potomac River who could assist before tourney starts Wednesday? Much appreciated... I'm assuming it's a seal somewhere, but I'm not a mechanic. Thanks in advance!

    Engine oil or Gear Lubricant?

Don, It was gear lubricant. I will assume you are quite familiar with the lower unit heating up and causing the pressure valve to release the lubricant out of the Nose Water Intake. There was nothing wrong with the motor after all. Can you explain to others what it is so others don't get crazy like I did? LOL As always, thanks for being here....

Unfortunately, I can't explain a "pressure valve" as there is no such device in the gearcase.

The shift shaft seal MIGHT have vented excessive pressure, but it's not any type of intentional valve.
