    Plugging a bravo?

I have a 26p bravo with the 1 inch vent holes. Ran great on my hpdi. But i have upgraded to a 250sho. And seems to be blowing out. I emailed mark, and he told me to try to plug the vent holes to see if that helps before he would weld em shut. Has anyone found anything reliable to plug these holes? I tried some slilicone plugs from ebay i thought would work. But they blew out immediately. Any help?

For reference, i have an 03 tr21 with 250 sho and 6 inch seastar hydro jackplate.

Wrap with duct tape or aluminum tape. Maybe use a plastic/rubber plug from the inside.

Are these factory PVS vent holes, or some that a prop shop drilled? BBLADES uses 1" vent holes and sells plugs for them on their website.

1 inch holes are not "PVS" holes.

1-1/8” fender washers. One inside & one outside per hole with a 1” fender washer sanwiched in between so it stays centered. Bend the 1-1/8” washers to the curve of the barrel. Connect with 3/4” long screws with nyloc nuts.

The factory vent holes on all Bravo's are not 1" on a Bravo. I own 3 Bravo XS props. They are PVS vent holes and the opening is around 3/4" and Mercury sells the solid plugs for them. They give you a complete set of solid plugs and ones with holes half the size of the opening when you buy the prop. The BBLADES ones I put the link on ARE for 7/8" vent holes, the size you choose from is the size of the opening in the center of the plug. Order the smallest set IF you indeed have 1" vent holes. Go to a Mercury dealer near you and they probably have vent caps laying around, borrow one and see if it fits.

Like other custom BBLADES propellers, it is equipped with an adjustable Controlled Aeration Port System (CAPS): these vent holes allow for additional control of the aeration around the propeller blades. Unlike other systems, the BLADES 4-SPEED OB/FX tunable 7/8″ CAPS is a full 1/4 of an inch larger and the three variable size plugs are made of a pliable rubberized material, meaning they are reusable and can be swapped out while the propeller is still on the drive.

I stand corrected. I wasn't aware Mercury did 1" holes from the factory.
