With ONIX/SOLIX/APEX, you go to the Settings, select Chart, then select Chart Card Info.

With number series/Helix, you go to the GPS Diagnostic view and it will be at the bottom right.

A VX card will have VX on the microSD card, just won't show which region.

Yeah, this is definitely a problem with the Micro-SD format. I bought a fine tipped white paint pen I use to mark mine on the back side.

One more question since I have the expert's on line. When you update software, you have to restore default settings. Is there a way to save MY settings so I don't have to re-enter them all after system update?

The update will always wipe out your customizations, even if you don't do a Restore Factory Defaults. It's always a safe bet to do the Restore Factory Defaults before and after an update.

To save your custom settings on the Solix and Apex, go to Home and then select the Files Utility. There you can export your settings. After you do the update, you can go to the Files Utility and Import your settings. This is not always allowed after an update so you should always keep good notes on your customizations. Also, not all settings are saved, like custom views and Data Overlays.

It would be time well spent to do screen captures of your settings. Just in case you get stumped on one of those settings you have to drill down a few menus deep to find. At least with my old memory.

When exporting Solix settings, is it advisable to export to the same SD card that has Navdata stored on it, or should one use a separate card for each?

I do it all the time. I have a data card I use for Settings, Nav Data, and Sonar Recordings. It will keep multiple versions of Settings and Nav Data. When you import, you select which one you want to use.
