    Transom to outboard spacer question?

I would like to raise my motor at least one hole up. However, the top of my transom has lip that sticks out about 1/8”. So to raise it I believe I need a spacer between the outboard and transom to clear the lip. Is there a correct and/or wrong method or product to do this. I see Bob’s sells aluminum spacers in 5/8” and I have also seen plastic type spacer plates in 1/3”-1/2”, assume they are similar to starboard. I’m thinking aluminum would be best, using anything that might compress like plastic that may cause bolts to loosen up over time seems less than ideal. Does Mercury have guidelines for such installations?
