How much does big gouges hurt images

I was wondering the same thing as I have several deep gouges but it seems like the image still looks good.
i just wish Lowrance had some sort of a skeg in front of the $300 3-1 like an older trolling motor of mine did.
But that is smart Lowrance engineering of having us buy more of their parts no different than their prop design.

It does not hurt a thing having scratches on the transducer.

I assume they have a pretty thick surround to the crystals or whatever they are now to protect them from incidental contact, etc. ;)
