I would skip it, even if they weren't fishing, just out on their dock enjoying the day.

Ask them how's it going and wish them good luck before skipping to the next dock.

Dont fish a dock if someone is on it fishing. Its simple and called respect.

Depends. If they are being civil then pass it up.

If someone is just sitting on their dock I skip it. Ask them how it is going and move on.

Waaaay before you get close and waaaay after you pass Pay close attention to what they’re throwing. Ya may learn a thing or 2. Swing wide stop fishing and ask him (Catching any? beautiful day. We’ve had a few bites or Naw can’t make em bite). Respect the person enjoying the great outdoors.

If there is someone on the dock, I will sometimes put my rod down and attempt to engage them in conversation. You can learn a lot that way.

I skip any occupied dock. Friday I passed a dock at a construction site. A construction worker was fishing on the dock so I went around it, but wasn't paying much attention. The construction worker yelled at me. I looked back. It was my Grandson. His Dad is a building contractor. I didn't know they were working at the lake. My Grandson saw me, grabbed a rod and ran down to the dock to mess with me.

As someone who lived on Lake Guntersville for 15 years I never minded when anyone fished my boathouse or dock. I did make the mistake of putting bushes out and there was one crappie fisherman that would actually tie up to the dock and stay there all day everyday . I knew he was way over his limit of fish. One day my granddaughter wanted to fish and he refused to move. I told him that I was going to get the game warden over to count his fish, He then left. Other than that never any trouble. Courtesy goes a long way with boaters and home owners.

No one can be wrong that often so it has to be deliberate.

The only exception to this rule is if it's summer with more than four young ladies in Bikinis on the dock. One or two put you in the Chester Molester class. I still don't fish the dock but stay within a good view range.

I would bid the people on the dock a good day and if they're fishing ask how it's going.
I've heard that property owners with waterfrontage own only up to the HIGH Water level.
I appreciate having an amicable conversation with people on the docks.
Other part of question, I wouldn't come within 100 feet of another boater, as there is lots of water and as the old saying goes,
90% of the fish are in 10% of the water.
