2012 150 Opti Proxs compressor over heat alarm

    Serial #: 1B914268

Compressor over heat alarm as per Vessleview Mobile

Water pump new all new gaskets etc near end of season last season has handfull of outings on it prior to storage.

Water pressure -3 ish on idle - 20+ on wot

    Engine Temp

T stats do cycle peak idle temps after a run 155f
    95 wot
    water temp 62f

    Tstats are clean no derbis

    Telltale good
    Stainer is clear
Did a back flush as well.

Poppet valve was changed last season for a different issue

What else could be checked to fix the issue? pretty sure I got all the water passages covered unless im missing something?

    Thanks!

Temp sensor, wiring shorts, lack of lube thru compressor, compressor failing
Need to monitor temp with scan tool and compare with infrared temp gun
    Thank You Leon Pugh

Remove the belt, rotate compressor pulley by hand and tell us if the pulley rotates smoothly when not on the compression stroke. Check the belt tensioner with an inch lb torque wrench, does it reach 70lb in prior to hitting the stop? When was the belt last replaced?

FYI, the engine side of cooling system is independent of compressor cooling circuit.

Thanks ill go check that out!

Belt is original if im not mistaken

How many turns of the compressor pully you can do by hand usually before it should be "too stiff" to turn by hand? if im not mistaken there's a "backyard" way to check if compression is remotely "ok"

3 turns with one hand. The belt needs to be off.

Note that even an intermittent blockage in the compressor cooling circuit (such as a piece of wood in the dump hose) can cause the compressor to overheat. If in doubt- disconnect hose from telltale, flush it well, and blow backwards through telltale with compressed air (hose disconnected).

update looks like something may have gotten lodged in the tell tale or somewhere in the cooling passage as doing the backflush the telltale wasnt draining 100% blew some air through it just need to do a water test to make sure everything is in order.

Im guessing doing the back flush must of pushed something around and finally got it out.

ON that note Was there any danger of damaging the compressor during the alarm or is the alarm set to go off quick enough prior to any potential damage?

should be fine ran with minimal time in overheat , continued run would damage it

Don recommends replacing the belt every 4yrs or 400hrs whichever comes first, so you should replace it. Keep the old one as an emergency spare.

Just under 200hrs on mine and put the 3rd new belt on during annual service last fall.

Hi ride.race.live - could you explain with a little more detail how you did the back flush and tell-tale cleaning? I'd like to try, but not exactly sure how you did it. Thanks!
