You can google the phone number of lock and dam 12 and just call the lockmaster. Most locks have a rope/chain that you can pull to let the lockmaster know you are there and wanting to head down. It will usually be recessed in to the wall just idle up to it and pull it and it will alert the people inside. There should be a traditional stoplight up above in plain sight. Do not enter the lock until it turns green and you hear a horn. Idle in to the lock find a spot along the wall and a worker should throw you a rope to hold on to. ** DO NOT TIE IT TO YOUR BOAT!!** Stand in the front of the boat and hold the rope in your hand while you move up or down. The gate should start opening then you may start idling out slowly. The horn will blow and you are free to go but do not get on plain until you are all the way out of the lock. Its a very simple process, the biggest advice I have is always be respectful to lock and dam staff and it shouldnt be any problem
