How to Clean up Chartreuse Dye??

I knocked over a bottle of chartreuse dye on my front deck. What’s the best way to get it out?

Everyone will tell you to just leave it and let the sun fade it away, and that does work. But if you're like me and can't stand to leave it, try using any hand sanitizer. Squirt some on it and rub it in and watch it magically disappear. I got some on my fingers (and carpet) last year and had a small bottle of hand sanitizer in my boat so I used it on my hands and the dye was immediately gone. Squirted a few drops on the carpet and it took it right out. I've used it a few more times since then with the same results.

Thanks! Yeah I can’t stand to look at it plus my boat is for sale so people may try to come look at it and I don’t want a big yellow circle on the deck. Lol

Spike-It Dip-n-glo Neutralizer And Dye Stain Remover

I have a bottle of this stuff for this case, but haven’t used it yet so can’t give any feedback on how it works.

Not sure if it will work for this but I use Folex carpet stain remover to clean carpet and it works great. Info came off a prior post here some time ago. Great success removing blood and other stains but no data yet if it will remove the dye issues. I got my bottle of Folex at Lowes. It was very reasonable.

I would try aerosol brake cleaner. I use it with a wet rag and it removes a lot of stains. Not sure about the dye but worth a try. That is what my carpet guy told me to use for stains.

Update: I tried hand sanitizer and it didn't do anything. I'm going to try carpet cleaner next.

Seriously, it will be gone after about a week of fishing.

First time I ever fished out of the boat I have now (first trip was to start the break-in process on the motor) I spilled a large amount of chartreuse dye on my fresh new black fiberglass console. I'll just let it go away over time. I bought the boat to use and that's all part of the risk of using it in my opinion.

So I tried some spot shot I had and it had little to no effect. I make some progress though by pouring hot water over it and scrubbing in dawn and then rinsing. Best results yet.

Rub a rag on it with reasonably liberal acetone in the rag, not dripping. Do not put acetone on the carpeting directly as it degrades the glue and is a serious fire hazard. Be very careful with acetone around anything electrical and inside enclosed environments.

Be careful with anything glycerin or oil based, that leaves a residue, as it will deteriorate the backing and glue.

I don't care what anyone says you will not remove it, Just have to wait it out!
