2023 Yamaha 250 SHO trim question

Dealer just replaced my blown 2017 SHO with a 2023 250 SHO. I’m not sure if this is correct, but with key off when I hit the trim on either the throttle or the engine, my 6YC display comes on (as if I were turning on the key). Similarly, my auto retract lenco trim tabs come on (which are tied to the key switch). This didn’t happen with the 2017 engine and they used all the same harness etc for the new engine, so curious if this is normal with the new SHOs. I know the new SHO has some kind of auto tilt function that the old one didn’t. I do have engine and GPS connected via NMEA if that helps. Thanks for any info!

It is not correct.

Refer your dealer to Information Exchange RP2022-009 dated 8 December 2022.

A simple wire harness extension at the switch panel is the cure.

thank you! Is that only an issue with the new engines? My 2017 didn’t do this, so wondering if they just didn’t hook up the extension or if it wasn’t needed on prior models?

Was not needed on earlier models.

Your older motor would have been a VF250LA model methinks. Bet you have a VF250LB model now.

On my 23 sho 200, when it is OFF and I hit the trim switch, the trim works fine but I also hear what I rhink is the fuel pump cycle.
