Upgrading Lift Assist on MK Ultrex trolling motor?

I'm sure I saw a thread on upgrading the lift assist gas shock on MK trolling motors to accommodate the additional weight of an HB 360 unit and live scope mounting pole, but I cannot seem to find that thread. Can you guide me to this thread or provide me with suggestions for upgrading the lift assist on my MK Ultrex 112 trolling motor.

Wayne has done it on his and also there is a guys Ron Medows that fabricated some parts to help with the upgrade.

If you do a search with "Upgrade lift assist" you will see both of these guys. The main discussion on on the trolling motor board.

someone here makes a kit but there is also a new mount bracket built with more lift assist

I bought the upgrade kit here on BBC, works well and was relatively easy to do. Its rock solid IMHO.

You don't need to remove the trolling motor mount - just remove the head and lay it on the deck while you replace the piston. Instructions were very clear.
