    Prop to pad

This has probably been asked 1 million times. I have a 2009 20X3
with a 250 pro XS racing. I just purchased a new tempest + 25P. The boat does have two rafters on it and a manual JP. any chance somebody would like to take a good recommendation to start at prop to pad? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is the higher you can get away with better? Or is it whatever the boat seems to like? Mine is at 2.5 right now and seems to have good water pressure and doesn’t blow out. But I feel like I am missing a bunch of speed somewhere.

I had an 07 X2 and I believe the X3 hull was very similar to the X2. Those hulls typically like the prop running deeper around 3.5 down to 4" below pad. My 07 21X2 would run right at 70 with a regular 250 pro xs and a 25 fury 3 blade. Your boat should run 75 at least when you get it setup right. My thoughts good luck.

Something is off with your numbers. If you are turning 5800 rpms with a stock 26 fury your engine is too high. Does your boat lift good? I expect it doesn't. That boat is meant for comfort and not speed. Should run 70ish setup properly. A tempest will run a little higher than a fury so if you have a tempest give it a try at current engine height. The fury props run deeper.

That’s really good news. I just received my new Tempest plus today. I did drop down to a 25p though. So we’ll see what happens. Really appreciate your help!!!

So just went out and tested with my new tempest 25 pitch. Same exact thing. 5800 RPMs, 57 MPH. What in the world do I have going on with this thing????

Does the bow lift? Or is it too slow to lift? You have a ton of prop slip if your tach is right.

Well folks… I really appreciate the effort trying to figure out my problem. Unfortunately, you can’t fix stupid and my new name is Captain stupid! Started looking around yesterday for other factors and noticed that my Garmin had switched to reading in knots instead of miles per hour . 70.4 mph. I thought it felt faster than what it was telling me.

Since we are talking PROP to PAD....my new 200 SHO FLASHED to 332hp runs fine at ZERO. LOL At 2" BELOW the chine is greater....at 1" below it is more manageable....at ZERO below it is smooth! Even with my 250 HPDI, the higher I went, the less it chined. My 250 hpdi only had a OX66 lower unit on it, so water pressure became an issue at 1" below.
