I'm not really familiar with the differences in style. I'm from Northern Michigan and tried to stay away from Detroit. We have a few pizza joints in the area that use local cheeses and meats and they are delicious.

I’ve eaten pizza all over the country and by far, the best was a 5 Cheese pizza at some mom and pop place in Loveland Colorado…

Good pizza is relative compared to what you expect and grew up with IMO. I live in NEPA and I say our pizza blow everyone else away. But to others come here and are like, "meh." One poster mentioned Old Forge style, there is like 50 pizza joints in this tiny town, and most are great. But it's not for everyone. But if you are in the area: Hazleton, Senape's Tavern...Wilkes Barre, Grotto, Sabatini's, or for something really different, Angelo's for the sweet sauce...Old Forge Acaro and Genell's or Revello's... Scranton, Maroni's

Back in my working days I travelled all over the USA for the better part of 15 years and have eaten pizza everywhere I've been but the pizzas that I remember the most to this day were all made in Michigan.

There are some bars in Michigan and that make a good pie. There are a lot of places there that are serious about pizza. Not sure if it is the top region but probably near the top.

FWIW I prefer the Detroit style over the Chicago style anyday.

We have a Jets chain in Michigan, I didn't think they ever expanded beyond Michigan but it's possible of course. Jets is very good for being a chain.

I can admit that I never knew Michigan was known for pizza.
