Upgrading to 10” bobs hydraulic jackplate

I am getting my hands on a new bibs action series 10” hydraulic jackplate. I’ve got an 05 champion 198. I am also ordering 5 degree wedges since I’m pulling the motor. Might as well do it all at once. Can another give me there thoughts on adding the hydraulic JP? Is performance better? How so? Wot #’s better? If anyone who has a similar hull as mine with a hydraulic JP let me here your thoughts please

Do you currently have a jackplate? I would recommend a 10” jackplate you will notice better performance.

You won’t see any performance gains going from the 10” manual to the 10” hydraulic. Now if you add the wedges that will aid with more positive trim. The main benefit of the hydraulic plate is being able to raise/lower the motor on the fly. This can help with handling in rough water situations and can get you on plane in skinny water.

Only advantage is easy adjustments. Quick adjustments for holeshot, height adjustments due to heavy and light loads, and shallow water running. as for day and night performance gains, not much since you already have 10” of set back.

Would there be any gain going from an 8" manual to a 10" hydraulic? 2008 198...

I am surprised yours has an 8” plate. Most came with a 10”. You might notice a touch more speed.

I had a 10" hydraulic Bob's action jack added with the wedges based on Pat Goff's recommendation and my boat performs great. Previously, it had a 10" manual jack. I don't know if the Bob's made a difference in performance, because I never actually used the manual 10" plate. I love how quickly my boat gets on plane and it definitely goes fast enough for me. I wouldn't buy a manual plate now that I've experienced the Bob's. Also, the customer service at Bob's is great.
