From Trophy Plus to Tempest Plus or Bravo 1 XS?

    I have a Ranger z21 (not 521) with 250 Pro XS 2 stroke.

Currently running a 25p Trophy Plus. Performance is ok but not great.

Care more about hole shot, staying hooked up in rough water, and bow lift.

I’ve read lots of good things about both the Bravo and Tempest +.

What pitch would you all recommend? Is it a different hub than my Trophy uses?

    Thanks!

Bravo I XS, same hub will work, not sure which pitch though. What is the WOT RPM and speed with your Trophy?

Bravo is what you want if you are looking for hole shot and rough water. I run a tempest and it is the fastest prop for my boat but my Bravo does everything else better.

This, I run a Bravo XS as my everyday prop. It has amazing bite regardless of how high I have the jack plate, jumps right out of the hole, plenty of bow lift, and can run slow planing speeds if I want to.

do the Bravo props run true to pitch? I've heard that you have to go up at least one pitch.

    Compared to what?

My experience is go up one inch in pitch from a Fury 3 to a Tempest Plus and 2 inches for a Bravo FS.

I had a 2007 Ranger Z21 dual console with 250 PXS back in the day. It only had a 24 volt TM system, as 36 wasn't hugely popular then. I ran a 25 Tempest plus on it and it was a great all around prop in my opinion. It obviously wasn't a speed demon but would run 70 to 71 pretty consistently. I played around with several props on that boat and the Tempest was the best all around prop for me.

I've tried many different props on my boat with a 300R. The Bravo XS is 3 mph faster than anything else I've tried.......it also is an AMAZING prop, excellent hole shot, excellent grip, amazing mid range speed, etc. etc.

Appreciate all of the feedback. Will keep an eye out for a Bravo and Tempest. Will probably start with a 25p.

I went from a 23 tempest plus to a 23 bravo xs. My max rpms went up around 250. I love the bravo, better holeshot and bow lift for me. Lost around 2mph if that, not enough for me to change back.

I would also like this answer as someone who is currently playing around with propping my z21

I need to do some additional checking but I’m only getting around 5300 rpm at wot and 55ish mph with two adults with the trophy. I have a slide master manual plate that hasn’t been moved in 13 years and not sure if it will….lol.

25 bravo will most likely be what both op and Greener need.

A fury 4 usually performs a little better on ranger hulls because it has more stern lift but they only go down to 24p which turns like a 26p bravo.

The 25p are backordered, but I can get a 24 or 26. Thoughts? I am leaning toward a 24 as I’m only turning my 25p Trophy at around 5500-5600 right now.

there is also a bravo (not xs or fs) in the sale page with added PVS and added cup to go from 22 to 24p. Work done by Mark. Only concern there is the added barrel length and Flare and too much stern lift.

I'm not sure if this helps or not but here are some data points. I have a 24P Tempest Plus on my Z521 250 Pro XS and it topped out at 60mph at 6k rpm. Gets out of the hole very quickly. I also have a 24P Trophy Plus and it went 70 mph but was a lot slower out of the hole. Sorry do not remember the rpm.
