    Toledo bend first time…

Never been, hell, I’ve never even fished on a reservoir….

I want to go.. gonna spend a few days.. any suggestions where to start, what to try? My strengths are flipping/pitching, slow rolling spinnerbaits, shallow cranking on wood… (I’ve only fished marsh or the basin or north shore rivers my whole life)

My best educated common sense guess would be to just pick an arm like San Miguel at Zwolle and just focus on that 1 small area.. I’m gonna be in my 15’ boat with a 25hp and my GSP will be with me, so I for sure won’t be out on the open lake… I feel confident, if I find some rocks, I can figure a bite out quick..

I have a graph but 10’ is deep in my world so I’m not gonna go too much out of my comfort zone looking for offshore stuff..(my boat won’t stay on anything anyway if there’s any kind of wind)..

Any other tips? I figure a chrome bandit 200 should put me ok… squarebills around some riprap banks if I find some.. probably will end up pitching my little craw around docks, maybe a jig.. I’ll be trying to figure something out the first day or 2 I guess as I have no clue about that place.. I just want to go..I don’t even care about big fish, if I stumble on a 5lber my trip will be worth it..

If you launch at San Miguel boat ramp go south to Cozy Point it has rocks!

I’m not committed to any particular place yet.. I’m not going until next week sometime.. doing research and map study and I’ll pick next week.. San Miguel arm seems to be a high concentration area with lots of different stuff to find.. place to sleep is always the least of my worries…
