6'9" heavy rod to short for Texas rig

is a 6'9" heavy rod to short for Texas rig if your 5'6"?
it would mainly be used for casting and a little pitching.

I do not think so. I use a 6’ 6” MH and it works fine. Used a 6’ for many years, too. I would say it is a matter of preference. If you can cast and pitch well with the rod, then it is more than adequate.

Use what you’re comfortable with to start. Then it’s all trial and error. When you’re first starting out, don’t get too hung up on the details. Spend time on the water and if you’re having problems with something like missing or losing fish, change things from there.

Absolutely not. Only disadvantage that I could possibly see would be on long distance hooksets.

I'm 6'2" and my set of 6'8" NRX 80x rods still see a lot of use.

I use our 6'9" ZOLO Skipper for texas rigs a fair amount and I'm 6'1". I learned to fish using a T-Rig on a 5'6" pistol grip so probably why I still like using a shorter rod.

I have a Berkley Phazer graphite rod that is 5'2" pistol grip handle. rated 1/4-5/8 oz and is pretty stiff. I don't have the reel anymore but I worm fished with it back in the OLD days. I don't have the reel anymore but it was a Ryobi V-mag. Back then a 6' rod was long.

When I first started fishing a Texas rig some 50+ years ago you had to look hard to find suitable rods over 6’. We mostly fished with 5’6” rods with pistol grips. I still have a few of them. Your 6’9” rod will serve you just fine. My go to t-rig rod is a 6’10” rod from ALX.

I am 6-4 or 6-5 and regularly use 6-8 or even 6-6 rods for fishing r rigs. You will be fine.

I’d look at the 6’9 Tatula elite, that would be a killer rod.

I’m 5’11 and my favorite rod is my 6’7 heavy powered Megabass p5 tachyon shaft. Skip senkos, Texas rigs anything. Throw a frog on it. Throw jig and hell, throw a chatterbait.

Yes indeed. That Tachyon Shaft is a unique rod. The Super Destroyer in the Megabass JDM P5 line up is also unique, highly versatile, super sensitive, and a very fun rod that I really enjoy.
