    Shipping a trolling motor?

Just put my Ultrex up for sale in this forum. I have quite a few shipping retailers in my area as I live by Walmart's home office. So I think I can haul it in one of the shops and they can figure out a box and packing material.

Question - When I took it off the boat the spring arm is open. I can close it but it does have tension and I don't see a way to lock it down other than use a strap. I got my replacement Ulterra box but it's a 45" shaft and the Ultrex is 52", so no fit there without modifying the box.

Has anyone shipped one that can offer some advice?

You need to release one end of the gas piston to fold it up safely when off the boat.
