You should have three that go all the way tru the control that have nuts, May be difficult to reach them, need a small person for this job, laying on their side 7/16 boxed end wrench and patience.
    Thank You Leon Pugh

Thanks Leon. I can reach in there and can get my hand all the way to the back. But there's only one nut I can feel. Here's a pic of the back side of a new one I found online that looks like it. You will see there's only one located towards the front. I'm thinking a need to remove the three bolts on the radius and the cover will come off exposing all the other bolts.

I may be mistaken on that unit, it may not have nuts on the back, try removing the 3 outer fasteners first
    Thank You Leon Pugh

Thank Leon. That's the plan for now unless someone provides feedback that has experience with this unit.

Yes it wasn’t fun reinstalling the control box! It took me 10 tries in 10 different positions under the console and can only use one hand to get in place long enough to screw in the bolts. My hip is sore today. Tonight I plan to attach the other ends inside the motor. I need to study how to adjust them. Thx again

This is one of those things I never understood. Why in the world would they make the units so hard to remove? Glad you got it installed. next time find a long armed 4 year old to reach in there for you lol.

I grumble similar words every time I work on my boats or cars.

I got all the cables installed and started it up. I tightened the shift cable retainer to better hold things in place. There is still some play in it when pushing from below it. Does anyone know how tight this should be? I can't find anything in the engine manual.

It's item d in the snapshot below.

I took my boat on the water and the in gear idle changes. It's sometimes high and other times normal. When it's high, I can get it to normal by going to neutral, than back into gear. Does anyone have any guidance on how to adjust the cables? Thank you.

How do I adjust it? I'm planning to start over with the process in the manual again.

It’s in the manual, where you adjust the throttle cam barrel for the throttle cable.

I figured out what I did wrong, adjusted the cables per the manual and the throttle controls worked great. Thx for all the feedback.
