Ranger 521 - lithium prop set up

    Ranger 521
    Optimax 250
    4 Lithium (4 100AHs, 3 for trolling and 1 for electronics).
    1 AGM
All tackle in the rear and only rods in the front
    Tourny load, hydraulic Jackplate.
69 MPH - prior to lithiums with a Fury 4 25, single passenger and approx 67 with my co-angler.

    With lithiums -
Had to run the fury’s all the way down.

    Tempest 25
Horrible hole shot with plugs in and out
6900 ish RPMs 65 MPH. I only had the large plugs. Tried with 2 and 3 plugs and was blowing mount. 4400 RPMS on hole shot but slipped to 5k ish and eventually went over.
    Not much bow lift

    Fury 4 25P
    2 people tourny load
    Horrible hole shot
    5750 @ 64-66 MPH
Some bow lift but seems like not a lot

    Fury 4 24p - reworked by Croxton
    2 people
    5800 rpms 64-66 MPH
    Decent Hole shot
    Hardly any bow lift
Jackplate all the way down, full trim

    Fury 24 - (same prop)
    1 person
    6100 RPMS
    67 MPH
    Hardly any bow lift
Crazy chine walk. Need to Redistribute weight.

Can I expect more? I feel like I need more bow lift. Or, do I try adding some sand bags to the rear? Thoughts?

I emailed Croxton and I’m waiting to hear back. Thoughts on his Razor?

Yes sir! I’ve been all over the Jack plate.

The fury’s definitely run better buried. If I come up on the jackplate, I gain RPMS but loose speed.

I am heading back out tomorrow and plan to stick a spare AGM on the rear to see if that helps.

Sounds like you need to drop the motor a hole on the mounting bracket
Need to the actual prop to pad measurement when lowered all the way down, should be about 4 in
    also, witch plate 4.6,8,10
    Thank You Leon Pugh

Just repowered mine to a pro xs from an evinrude and also installed lithium. Got a 23 tempest and a 2: bravo xs to try while waiting for the engine. After break in with the bravo the boat is undriveable above 65. If you hit the trim button the stern jumps right like a foot. Jack plate down to 5 under and steering becomes normal unlike where I used to run the plate around 3.5. Gonna try the tempest this weekend to see if the Bravo just has too much stern lift.

What 521 do you have? I moved engine back 2 inches on my 521c and it runs better then it did before lithiums.
