Prop pitch question vs rpm question

2021 Mercury Pro XS 200. Fury 24p turns 6200 rpms at 73mph, Fury 25p turns 5800 rpms at 70mph. Is 400 rpm drop normal for only 1 degree of pitch change? Wondering if the 24p I am borrowing may have been reworked?

Normally 200 rpms per pitch, But you lost speed and the rpms go down as well. Some props are better than others. Some motors make more horsepower at certain rpms. Many times you can drop pitch and gain speed....

That motor wants and needs 6200 rpm. That is why you lost speed, lower torque at 5800 RPM
your motor could also be to high causing prop slip with the 24. Many are using a 23 for best performance
    Thank You Leon Pugh

Thank you for the input, its appreciated! You may be correct about my motor being a little high. With everything level, I am at 1 5/8" from bottom of hull to center of prop shaft which I believe is a little tight. Going to lower the motor a bit and see how my numbers look. Thanks again
