    optimax water pump kit - metal gasket?

    I received a water pump impeller kit and it came with a metal gasket that goes under the face plate. I had a paper gasket before. Seems strange to have a metal gasket under a metal face plate. Is there anything needed for sealing or just assemble as is. Thank you.

    as is , suppose to help with corrosion between plate and housing
