The number of deer taken in Kentucky during 2022 season. That’s a lot more than I would have guessed.

Probably pretty normal, even with our lack of massive wooded areas Iowa took almost 110,000 last year.

How many were taken that were not recorded? How many deer are hit and killed by vehicles in a year per state? We have lots of deer in the country.

Quite possibly more than there ever has been. I remember reading an article 10-15 years ago talking about deer populations. The deer population was at a minimum in the early 20th century. They were hunted hard during the 1800s. It stated that the present day population either had recovered to where they estimate it was before the English arrived or was just under or over that estimate. Their habitat has been reduced but there is less sustenance hunting taking place and they game laws lend to a healthy herd with a greater chances of reproduction.

Maine set a record last year at around 42,000. Not long ago we were in the low 20's but everything depends on what the regs allow and how the weather is during the rifle season. Last year the first 2 weeks were really warm but people were still tagging. Too much rain keeps the hunters indoors
