2003 Nitro 882 Gas Tank Slurping Sound

    I have a 2003 Nitro 882 with the 40 gallon gas tank.
For the last couple of seasons when ever I prime the gas line bulb I get a slurping / sucking sound from inside the fuel tank.
    Doesn't seem to hurt performance.
    Bulb stays firm.
Does it no matter how much gas is in the tank.

I don't have a problem pulling the take and taking a look inside but what would I be looking for?

I had the same boat 2004 model year. Same issue and found most all the fuel lines to be bad so I replaced them all including the filler line. The original lines were not made to work with ethanol gas mix and will deteriorate over time. Some of the lines are really difficult to get to. I took mine to a repair shop for the replacement to be sure it was done right. Hope this helps.

    Thanks Dave.
All lines were replaced along with a new OEM bulb about a year ago.
sound seems to be coming from inside the tank

2003 should be a vented tank IE the cap. Remove the cap while doing it and see if it changes

The vent line can be backed filled with fuel. especially if there is a low point, could be your issue.

    Follow up on this:
I had pulled the gas tank (to address another situation I was dealing with) and completely emptied it of fuel. I removed the dip-tube from the tank and made sure it was not cracked or damaged....it wasn't. After all that I remembered that there might be a anti-siphon ball in the fitting where the hose to the motor connects. Yup...could not blow air towards the tank but no problem blowing towards the motor.

So I figure the only thing that it could be was this anti-siphon fitting since its the only thing that has a part that moves when you prime the bulb....new one on order. I'll report back with findings.

    Thanks!

Fixed. New anti-siphon fitting did the trick.
