    Investment idea…Train cars?

With all the train derailments lately, maybe buying some railcar manufacturers might be a good idea. I’m figuring that with all the train cars getting damaged or totaled that they would need to be replaced. Did a little research and found 2 companies that make them: GBX and TRN. Both pay nice dividends but they really haven’t moved much over the last 5 years. Might be more of a Dividend play I guess.

Those are stocks to think about in retirement. Could be good if new regulations force safer rail cars. Safer rail cars would be more expensive.

It would be interesting to see what the political response will be, if anything. If the government mandates newer rail cars to accelerate fleet replacement, they could make a lot of sense for the short to medium term. It will be interesting to see if the Biden/Buttigieg administration feels pressure from the public to "do something". Freshening up the fleet and putting a maximum age on them could be something to watch...
