If he does SLR then I’m sure he does Alex Bay since it’s on the SLR… One thing to note is make sure you plan it for June 15th or later. Can’t fish for bass before then.

Bass season is open year around now in New York State unless I’m missing something?

certain counties do not allow catch and release outside of the regular open season. They are Franklin (pg 22), Hamilton (pg 23), Jefferson (pg 35), and St Lawrence (pg37 and 63) counties.

Lake Ontario bays and tributaries past the Oswego-jefferson county line, and the entire St Lawrence river is off limits for bass outside of the regular open season.

as an example, the i fish the Fulton Chain (Old Forge area) and I can fish the old forge pond to the 5th lake channel year round because the herkimer-hamilton county line is near inlet.. But since the 5th lake channel and 5th lake is completely within Hamilton county, it’s illegal to target bass outside of the regular season in those areas even though it’s connecting waterways.

Region 6 area. No catch and release season. 3 rd Saturday in June the season is open. I believe the Canadian side of the SLR opens up even later.

On the Canadian side smallmouth open on the first Sat in July and largemouth are still on the 3rd Sat in June.

The New York side is the 15th of June for both bass species. They changed to a fixed date of the 15th last year.

To the best of my knowledge NYS never had separate seasons for LM and SM bass. Until last year it always opened up the 3rd Saturday in June but now it's June 15th. Many cottage/lodge owner are not happy with that.

Lake Erie is the place to fish SM Bass in NYS.
