Changing Depth Finder in a 2006 201 Pro XL

I have an old 597 that is built in to my dash. It’s dimensions are 6.9 wide by 7.5 H x4.5 deep

I would like to exchange it for a new Helix 5 whose Dimensions are7.55 wide x 4.5 H x3.3 deep.
Can this be done without major modifications?
I have a Gen 3 SI 12 on a Kong mount but would like to use the new 5 primarily for maps and an occasional trip without bringing the 12.
Any suggestions?

Could use starboard to fill the hole then mount the helix 5 to it. Or remake that dash panel out of starboard and make the new panel so you can flush mount the helix 5

i have an 08 and i feel these models consoles are perfect to mount one on a ram mount to the righ t thats what i have , maybe not a 12 inch but a nine fits great sorry read you post

I bought a plastic cutting board from Amazon and cut it down to fit and mounted the gimbal mount for my HDS 7.
