    Your favorite jerkbait rod?

Looking to buy a inexpensive under $200, jerk bait rod. Don’t throw one very often, but looking to start a bit more. Even cheaper is ok if quality is there. Looking at about 6’6”- 6’10” lengths.

Under $200, I really liked the previous generation Tatula Elite 69ML. The just released 2023Tatula Elite 69ML feels similar with a noticeably nicer blank in terms of crispness and responsiveness. Not a lot of guys like shorter jerk bait rods, but there is a unique cork handled (TTU) Tatula rod, the 6'3" Medium that's a really fun, less expensive rod that handles 1/2 oz style jerk baits and top water baits nicely. I use this rod pond hopping quite a bit and on the boat more than I would have thought.

There are some of the Shimano Expride A 66M/MF rods around for just a hair over $200 that are awesome jerkbait rods. In my experience, they fish a tad lighter than their esteemed 610 brother, but for that price I doubt you'll find a better option.

I guess alot depends on the Boat and how tall you are
I used to use a shorter rod
These days it's the Champion 704CB rod thet doubles as the lighter crank rod

Ark Tharp series-One eyed jack. $139.99
Bought one just to throw in pond boat.It really surprised me with how well it performed. It now stays in my
Bass Cat.Caught a ton of fish on it this past winter/early spring and now it has a smaller walking bait on it
fished with braid.Fished with it more than a couple of my 200-250 dollar Jerkbait rods

I do not like this rod at all for a jerkbait rod. It absorbs all of the action. Far too much of a noodle.

To each their own. That old 69ML landed me countless fish throwing a Megabass Vision 110JR and old Pointer 78s. The fish didn’t seem to mind the action imparted.

Daiwa Tatula or Tatula XT 701MRB is the finest jerkbait rod IMO. Perfect for 110s, +1 etc. Right around 100 bucks, perfect action.
