    Torsion bar bad???

Noticed last night that all of a sudden I have one bald tire, and both rear axle tires look like the are running the inside of fenders a bit. Port side is the worst. I haven’t hear of these torsion axles breaking, but is it a thing?? If so, anyone know exactly what I need to order for repair??

Are they wearing even, or to one side. Too low or too high air pressure can cause this too. Too low and the outsides wear and too high the center wears. Also you may need to adjust the Torsion bar down a spline or two to get the trailer up higher. Make sure to put new grade 8 bolts and torque them to 150 foot pounds.

Wear is all to from the center inward. That’s how I missed it, tire looks normal from the outside.

Make sure the bolt on the hub is torqued to 150 ft/lbs. if not tight, the hub will flare up and wear the inside of the tire.

Ok, it appears that both torsion arms on the rear axle have loosened up. I cannot get them tight enough to stop movement. So I’m thinking the arms have wallowed out on the axle. I’m at table rock for a BFL, and suppose to head to KY lake for Toyota series on Sunday. Does anybody here have a contact at ranger trail? Wondering if I could run over to Ranger and buy two arms?

    Thanks…Mick

I called Ranger for an axle on a 2018 521 and was told 6-8 weeks wait before it would ship. I was also quoted $600 for shipping even though I am 2.5 hour away from factory and asked about picking them up myself.

This was always my go to guy at Ranger regarding trailer questions/issues. I haven't talked to him in awhile but you might give him a call. Rick is a great and very knowledgeable guy on all things Rangertrail. May have some quick fix options to get you down the road safely for another week or two.

Can you see if the splines are messed up on the axle or the trailing arm? Mine wouldn’t tighten enough also but the splines never stripped. New grade 8 bolts and nuts did fix the problem. They should be available at a hardware store you need the zinc coated ones

Axle splines look good, problem is even when they are tight I can wiggle the whole thing up and down. It doesn’t help that I’m in a campground, not my shop. So I’m limited on tools and such. Thanks guys!!

Some auto parts stores have a tool rental and should have the Gr 8 bolts and nuts. If not, new Gr 5 might do until you get home. At least they wont be stretched

Does anybody have the bolt specs? Size and thread pattern? Gonna try this fix on my trailer before I order a new axle.

I would get new tires put on before I lost my entry fee and couldn’t fish the next
tournament. Then get it taken care of. Good luck.

Yeah it's much more than a tire issue. The fricking tire rubs on the fender because the torsion arm will not tighten up on spline. No way I pull that to KY and back. Have 2 new torsion arms ordered, and MLF took care of me on entry.
