Like many have said, GY Senkos are expensive and the alternative is to go with something much less expensive without a concern for changing the number of bites one gets. I have been a GY Senko wacky rig guy, with decent results, but I am definitely going to put to test cheaper alternatives to see if it changes the number of bites I get while on the water (my wife will be my control variable, as she will NEVER stop fishing GY senkos).
Sick Sticks were the first I tried. The square core and round ribs catch air so it creates some bubbles, and the square core with a weighted jig causes more movement. It doesn't sink as fast as a senko, but I've caught way more fish on them than senkos. It also helps that a 25 pack is $11.

Senkos......with about a 1/4" piece of 3/8" clear heat shrink tubing. For weightless wacky the Owner Jungle weedless wacky hook. For weighted I like the Gamakatsu G Finesse weighted wacky hook.

BPS Stick-O. Was fishing with a buddy and he was using these and I was using Yamamoto and he was getting more bites so I switched then and never looked back. Do yourself a favor and try the Texas Smoke color...lol

Last two seasons I've noticed doing well on baits with flake in a gizzard/shad lake. Ones with a sort of black back and silver flake underside. Stick baits and Z-Hogs.

V&M J-Mag 10.5", Senko 4" or Senko 5" most of the time weightless, because they catch LM.

I really like the Big Bite Cane stick. Its a unique bait that really works well for me. Has grooves on it that really catch the water and give it action and it also has a variety of hook slots.
    Give them a try.
