gel coat stress crack help
Anyone know if there is a product that would fill stress cracks in the gel coat without having to redo the gel coat.
-
Bud the cracks are created by the Substrate and no topical application will shut the cracking down. Where the cracks are showing usually flex or some other type of movement is occurring in the Substrate itself. If you can arrest the movement causing the cracks they can be ground out and new Gelcoat applied.

Usually the stress cracks are pretty shallow but caused by flexing. If you hit something and caused the flexing, then you can sand out the cracks and re gel coat the area. But if it is caused by flexing from normal use, you will not get rid of them. They are nothing more than an eyesore, and don’t cause weakness, just a sign of flexing in that area.
