1995 Johnson 150HP Fast Strike Idling Problem
I have a 1995 Johnson 150hp Fast Strike, serial is J150GLEOM. I just pulled all of the carbs and rebuilt them. New floats, needles, seats, and gaskets. I also cleaned the butterflies, all of the jets, and reinstalled them. Before installation of the carb bowls, I checked the adjustment on the roller, all of the butterflies open in time and together. Today, I wanted to test run it on the lake. Before I left, I put the earmuffs on it one more time to check, and it ran great, idled smooth, so I buttoned it up and drove out. I stopped to fill the starboard tank, it was empty, with non-ethanol gasoline, premixed oil 50:1, and went on to the lake. When I put in, the engine will not idle unless I intermittently press the ignition key about every second. I can keep it running, not well, it sputters and sneezes alot, but when I keep it running this way and increase the throttle to get on plane, it jumps right out and opens up very well. Runs great at WOT, about 54mph with just myself in it, but when I come out of the throttle to somewhere under 3000 RPM (tach is not working, will replace that soon) it completely dies and I flood the transom since it sits back in the water so fast. Any ideas on what I am missing? If I weren't already bald I wouldve pulled my hair out today.
