A couple of you mentioned the Sterling alternator protector. Where and how did you install it? I have the wiring diagram, that is the easy part. Did you mount it in the boat and run wire up to the engine or mount it directly to the engine?

How and where on the engine did you mount it? There is a metal tab just below the alternator that I can attach it to. Not sure about heat and cowling clearance.

Do you think this will work?

Zip-tied to the wire harness just above the oil pump. Can't upload pics from phone, should be able to upload from computer tomorrow
Sounds good

Only time will tell if it's a good spot or not. But the one time I've had the boat out everything stayed in place. Didn't take a pic with the wires going to the alternator, but in the 2nd pic they come out of the access arch (lack of better description) and route along another wire harness with zip-ties

Thanks for the pics. I was trying to keep it close to the alternator. Mostly worried about heat from the engine.
Another question. I just got the Ionics in the boat and went to connect the trolling motor wires to the batteries and the lugs on the cable Stroker installed in the boat don't fit on the battery terminals.
Did any of you experience the same thing?

Yes, mine were too small as well...? Seemed odd to me. Believe the battery has a 3/8 stud
Agree on 3/8 stud. Headed to the hardware store as soon as my new 50 AMP breaker arrives.
I will also share one complaint about Ionic Batteries. They need to design in handles. There is no way to grip the batteries when you try to lift them. It makes it really hard putting them in the compartments and into the battery trays.

I guess being light thought folks wouldn't need them. But I would also like handles myself

When I get mine completed, seems if ever, I am going to mount mine.

Completed the installation of the batteries. They are now charged and ready to go. Now I just need the weather to cooperate.

I did get the boat out on Saturday. River was very high with about 1.5 feet of visibility.
Batteries worked great. After 2.5 hours of pulling against a 2.5 mph current, the trolling motor batteries were down 4 to 5%. The started battery was down 7% with a 4.2 amp load from the electronics.
Next effort is to find some fish.
