Everyone from the factory came that way and detwiler factory set them up that way it wasn’t until plate manufacturers decided they didn’t want their plate in the middle.

putting the heavy hydro plate 10 inches further off the transom makes the weight even more further back and your angle of attack offsets and that has to be made up some where and it’s top speeds that suffer. I have driven more than most and set up is key I don’t believe that’s optimal some say foot print but either way works but one is faster.

Well Kevin had redone all, except pumps, clean up wiring etc. Now I have all new pumps, new valves, new cables, cleaned up wiring. Took out old slide control, cut piece of carbon fiber, water jet, offset the new style valve controls.

All that chris had done lately were behind static plate. David's with 300r went 110 with trolling motor

Did same to another David has that Chris has redone, 300x. Now Chris didn't get a chance to run that one. It is a hotrod 300x with all trick billet parts, side steer etc.

Plus I can tell ya on mine, the old plate had a ton of slack in guides, apparently bushings are shot. Mechanically putting Jack plate on boat is far in excess of operating pressures I would say as leverage on unit is increased exponentially by doing so with the needed setback

Plus is used the extreme static plate also

Good sharing of ideas. Food for thought on both setups.
I guess for me, if is ain't broken after 23 year, don't change it is the plan. That statement it not quite true as I have kind of changed it. From the factory, I had an 8" Detwiler with a 6" setback plate. That was changed to a modification to the Detwiler to make it a 6" and then added the Leverage setback to where I could adjust the total setback from 14" to 18". A few years later, I removed the Leverage and replaced it with a 10" Hydro Dynamics setback plate.
Like many, I have changed a lot on the boat over the 23 year. Still love the boat and will continue to enjoy it for hopefully many more years.

I also used a hydrodynamics 10 inch setback and 6 inch seastar extreme. That sucker is way faster than old one. But I had to completely disassemble static plate. Side plates were past angle and kinda wonky. I talked to them about it and decided to just fix myself. I have access to a cnc, water jet and laser. All worked great.
