Getting into Livescope tech and wondering which 12" graph to buy?

    Hello,

Getting into Livescope tech and wondering which 12" graph to buy? I'm pairing it with a bird Helix 12 with Mega 360. I'm a Humminbird guy and have no clue what to buy in the Garmin product line. Looking for best bang for the buck..

    thanks!

Its an open end question on " whats the best and what do you want to spend vs budget. Without having specific info here is my what i think. Keep in mind the units below have base mapping and no sonar. If you want better mapping and sonar then you will need different models and also, maybe think about the future of adding Garmin units when these dont have sonar. That's what i mean about an open end question.

    Budget:
    GPSMap 1222
    https://www.garmin.com/en-US/p/561759/pn/010-01741-00

    More options on unit:
    122sv
    https://www.garmin.com/en-US/p/626320/pn/010-02113-00

    Better:
    GPSMap 1223
    https://www.garmin.com/en-US/p/697243/pn/010-02367-00

    Best:
    GPSMap 8412

I hate to disagree with Jeremy but I would go with the Ultra 126sv right now

There are 2 families in the Garmin world
    GPSMAP and ECHOMAP
NOTE these families do not network with each other so your first purchase will dictate what other units you might purchase in the future

GPSMAP is like the Solix or Apex they have rewind and record and can cost more
Best choice IMO is the 1222 for the cost

ECHOMAP is like your Helix no rewind or record

Right now there is a sale on the (ECHOMAP family) Ultra 126sv at BPS that makes it the best bang for your buck you get Navionics mapping and a GT54 transducer for future use all for less than the 1222

They have the same resolution so image quality is the same

    LIVE SCOPE
You will need the LVS34 transducer and GLS10 black box
Now you can go with the lesser LVS32 transducer but the 34 is worth it

NOTE the sale on the Ultra 126sv will be over soon so I wouldn’t wait too long

Wow guys great info and thanks! So the 126sv will not record and go back? Also, I don’t think I included funds for a black box. What is that exactly and does it come with the LS34 transducer as a package?

You need both the GLS10/LVS34 to use with a unit. You can buy it as a whole package for $1700. Now there are some sponsors that sale both the unit and LS system as a package deal.

The 126sv will not backup or record but neither will the helix
Yes you can buy the LVS34 and GLS10 in a bundle
Contact one of the board sponsors and you will find they have some good deals
They can bundle the 126 and the livescop plus

Totally agreed. Problem with buying the 1222 which is a great 12" option, is that you are basically started down the path of GPSMAPS units only. So if you decide to swap over to all garmins like I did, you are locked into the GPSMAPS family, and they have some quirks and aren't as budget friendly as the echomap family.

Honestly a great point. I've found the best method is to give a place like russell marine or the bass tank a call. Those guy know the product lines and are far more credible than random internet posters (myself included)

Does Russell Marine or Bass Tank have the 126sv for $1599 or the 106sv for $999?

No and they wont price match either. I contacted them prior to purchasing. They wouldn’t price match when another online retailer had the 126sv for $1999 (RMP had them for $2649) before the bass pro/Cabela’s sales started. I bought 3 units elsewhere because of that. I just wished I would have waited for the BPS/Cabela’s sale. I got one there to complete my rig, but getting the first two before the sale from GPSStore cost me $1000 more because I bought them late Feb before the BPS sale started. The 126sv is a great unit though. I love them.

Wow similar question for me. I am HB guy but want to get a single 10” Garmin for LVS34 only. I generally do not do budget options. I tend to buy “Better or Best” units. I get confused with all the different options. Any help is appreciated!

If you’re willing to drop some coin than the GPSMAP 8610 has the best resolution for a 10” Garmin graph at 1920 x 1200 compared to the Ultra 106sv at 1280 x 800

I had the same question and bought the 8412. Absolutely love it, extremely fast and much higher resolution. Also matte so it’s much easier to see in very bright sun.

So the GPSmap units have better resolution and are better in the Sunlight than the Echomap Ultras?

I got a great deal on the 1222 with lvs34 (comes with black box) from bass fishin electronics in New Hampshire. Call them up!
(There is no "g" in fishing of the company name.)
Also get your wire there if you need it!
