    Exclamation Dipping tails?

How often do you dip the tails on your flipping baits? I dip mine chartreuse atleast 70% of the time. Confidence thing I guess!

Probably 25% of the time. If I’m fishing really clear water I dip them. The more stained, the less I worry about it.

Always dip the tails, have for years and it works for me. I like chartreuse with garlic.

Not flipping baits because they do not sit still long but I dip ribbontail or straight tail worms from time to time.

Not because of color but because of scent. I do not believe a subtle color change like that matters.

Maybe that’s why I suck at fishing

I was going to say the same thing! The clearer the water, the less I dip mine.

If the water is really clear I add a small amount of chartreuse to either smoke purple or watermelon green tails. If it’s dirty I don’t worry about much added color

I use the spike it markers to dye the tips of the trailers on my swim jigs. That’s about the only time I ever do

I use chartreuse or orange on my jig trailers probably 25% of the time. I tend to use the dye more often in stained water.

Same here. Orange and lLoosa are always dirty or muddy. The chartrues flash seems to help

If I'm in dirtier water I'm going dark anyhow. I never dip a black/blue or black trailer.

almost always dip. I have Red, Orange, Methiolate, Chartreuse and Blue in the boat. When you read about craw colors and how they change, and I have gone so far as to have a crawfish
trap I occasionally put out, and you see the bits and pieces in your livewell, you know that Craws have a variance in colors, and during certain periods are very Red, or Black, or Green, etc.
But, don't forget, Bass are curious...so I play at times and die one craw orange, the other either blue (dirty water) or chartreuse (when Bluegill are around), etc...Complexity and contrast help
    IMO....

I never dip anything dark colored or red to color it. Green pumpkin/watermelon baits always get either a little dip on the tip of the tail, or if it's clear water, just a brush with the pen.

But all soft plastics get a dip in the clear garlic scent if I'm not adding color.

Walleye fishing in Canada, I use a small fluke shaped bait on a round jighead. Most colors get either a chartreuse tail, or a swipe of the chartreuse pen on the belly.
