How I got hooked on it was a trip to Amistad back when it was the best lake in the country. The water was really clear but they would bite either a w/r senko or baby brush hog 5 to 1 better if you dipped the tails and ever since then it's been a given almost. I never ever fish a senko without dipping the tail.

You’ve got Spike It, which is the most popular, and JJ’s Magic, which I like too because it comes in a glass jar instead of a plastic container. There’s a handful of others out there too.

Thanks. My lake looks like chocolate milk with all the rain. Have not seen it this way in many years. The visability
Is like 1 foot. It's usually 20 or more feet.

JJ's for me as they seem to hold on just a little longer than Spike-It. I think Spike-It eventually wears off.

JJ's should be kept out of the sun and in a cooler. Don't and I mean don't leave it in direct heat. It will boil in 75+ days. I keep mine in the cooler near my drinks / ice. Not in it, just near it.
Been fishin' since I was 5 years old...Thanks Grandpa!

Something that is what I call a dark color like blue fleck, june bug or red shad I never dip. If its watermelon, green pumpkin or something of that color nature I always dip. How much I dip depends on water color and bait type. On a craw type bait I may only dip or use a pen to color the very tip of the craw if its clear water but if it has color I may dip the entire claw. On something like a worm or creature bait with long appendages I may dip as high up as 1-2". In clear water I dip less and colored water I dip more.

Mostly in the warmer months, but anytime I'm fishing anything other than gin clear water, I dip them. Chartreuse w/ garlic.

1 foot here on the Ohio River is considered barely stained. That being said, fish that aren't used to muddy water usually clam up pretty well for awhile.
