    Electronics locks

Does anyone have a recommendation on a decent set of locks for your electronics? Specifically Lowrance and Garmin. Not sure of what to get and realize a “thief” will get by just about anything but looking for personal experience/opinions.

I have two DuraSafe locks on each of my units. I also put the cover on my boat every time I stay over night some where.

Several threads on locks the past few months if you search back... I recommend BoatXFX Graphlocks... a bit more expensive than Dura's, but are made of metal, not plastic, so can't be defeated with one quick whack of a hammer...or brick.. or tire iron, etc. A determined theif will get through any lock, of course, but the BoatXFX locks are much sturdier than the Dura, and don't stick out so damn far either...

I ended up using Torx Tamper resistance screws on both of my Lowrance units fit almost flush to the mount so they don't stick out and the common thief doesn't usually carry torx tool with them , like stated before nothing is thief proof if they want it but just to slow them down works for me

I just got the Boatxfx because they don't stick out as far. Seam really well made.

BoatEfx locks are my pick, the DuraSafe can be damaged very easy or picked.

Any chance you have a link to the exact screws and tool you bought? Or at least know what size they are? I was looking to do this before summer and don't know exactly what I need.

It would depend on your HU brand, but for Lowrance it's typically M6x25 for using with a lock, or maybe 20 if not using a lock and using screw/washer only... I used the 25's with the BoatXFX and my HDS Live's.

So, you lock the graph to the MOUNT, but what stops the thief from un-screwing the mount and taking the whole thing ??? OR, taking the Ram Mount and everything ???

time... thieves want a quick grab. That being said, if someone really wants it, they will get it. Nothing on the market exists that will prevent that...

Best insurance is don't put them on until at the ramp and vice versa when leaving.

What brand? I've had Garmins, Lowrance and Humminbird but the only one that ever came close to that was the Lowrance LSS2 plug. (I take my graphs off every time my boat is out of the water.)

If you are using a ram mount why would you waste money on any locks, just take the unit off and lock it up in the truck or hotel.
