Only heard rumors about that. Not sure how true they are.

Yes, I am pretty sure I remember him saying it on a podcast. I don’t think it was a realistic offer - I think he offered $1 mil for BASS and got laughed out of the room.

Yes, that's the rumor. But then remembered the saying "why buy the cow when the milk is free" and took a bunch of talented anglers from BASS. Some never to return.

Interesting, I wonder what BASS is valued at? I'm sure quite a bit more than a million.

That's a lot of entry fees.

If that is true then I understand why the pros are asking for higher payouts. Seems like BASS could payout more.

I didn't know entry fees carried weight.

Yeah I am not sure. one says 25 one says 15m.

I have no idea what it costs to make a tv show and all the live stuff and all the other things they put on.

If these pro trails were making a ton of money there would be more of them.

That has always been my thinking. I have done the math on a few of the local big trails. Some look like they make really good money but have none of the overhead BASS does.

Revenue might be 25m, but what are the expenses? I'm sure they make a profit but it might not be as much as people think.

They must be profiting a good bit to get laughed out of the room at a million dollar valuation.

Revenue may be 15-25 million, but what is the net???? The folks who work there have to be paid, and all the travel, hotels, buildings, benefits....must be paid. Duckett found out it was easy when two billionaires picked up the money to start MLF, and guarantee all entry fees. When they pulled back on that, he found out it isn't easy making bank. He isn't going to risk too much of his money on all that.

Now that they’re chugging fake beers while wearing fur coats at the weigh-ins, I bet he only bids $750,000, tops.

Who knows for sure if he made an offer or was even "laughed" out of the room though?
