95 Fast Strike 115 - Running Hot?
I finally got my new outboard running this past weekend and its peeing well and has good RPM's.
I noticed after idling on the muffs that the block felt super hot. I didnt have any alarms going off but I am weary of whether or not they work.
How hot should the block be getting? Do I possibly need new Tstats? I know the oil pump is working because the fuel was blue when I rebuilt the carbs. Motor pees well too.
Any help is appreciated.

Can you keep your hands on a 120-110 deg top of a cylinder head? I cannot. Idle temps are always higher than cruise temps. The best thing to do is to find / buy an infrared temp sensing gun and check for the exact temperature. Even low cost ones are reasonably accurate. I cannot say if one of the human temperature devices will work. Maybe a meat thermometer?

The Tstat should open at ~143* as Bighare2 says an IR temp gun is relatively inexpensive. The small cap hex is 13/16" but I use a 1.5" socket on the large outside edge to remove the caps.
